Meet Scott Morofsky
SCOTT A. MOROFSKY was born a twin to a sister in Mt. Kisco, New York, in 1960. At age five, he moved with his family to historic Irvington, New York. Faced with a physical disability early in life, he spent most of his childhood wearing a cumbersome leg brace. It was the emotional pain he experienced, more so than the physical, which underscored Scott’s awareness of his less than normal state of being during this phase of his young life. Rejection and exclusion were felt deeply as a result.
Coupled with the tragic death of his mother at the age of 11, and consequentially the emotional abandonment by his father, Scott found himself caught in a web of unhealthy behaviors that brought superficial comfort to his broken soul, throughout most of his teenage years. Ever searching for inner peace, at age 17 he found himself immersed in self-actualization, meta-physics and spirituality.
It was at this point his lifelong journey into recovery and 12-Step programs began. Having been brought up in the Jewish tradition, with regular attendance at Temple, Scott recognized his spiritually-centered core and thus easily absorbed the truths he exposed himself to in groups, seminars and workshops.
In tandem with his soul care, he also found himself focused on building his body. His own fitness became his obsession in a very positive way. Working out several hours daily became his lifestyle and his strength, so much so that by the age of 30, he was body building, competing and winning.
Attendance in college was multifaceted. Scott attended:
- Boston University
- Pace University
- State University of New York at Purchase
Though proud of his time spent in academia, Scott moved away from it with the desire to be a writer. Unfortunately, writing did not offer an income that would pay the bills at that point, and though it’s his first passion, Scott came to the realization that in order to make a living, he needed to fall back on his other passion: body, mind and spirit fitness.
He made the decision to study at the Swedish Institute of Massage and Allied Health Sciences. With a certification as a massage therapist, coupled with a strong personal desire to be of service to others, Scott embraced his own physical challenges and intense focus on fitness, and began a private practice.
Having undergone a hip replacement at age 40, Scott’s practice drew him to senior clients who, were dealing with joint replacement recovery as well. For over 30 years to date, he has aided his clients with joint replacement rehabilitation, personal training and massage.
Never abandoning his first passion of writing during those 30 years, Scott developed his theory of Wellativity™ and the importance of breathing conditioning, and finally shared it through the publication of his two books:
- Wellativity: In-Powering Wellness through Communication
- The Daily Breath: Transform Your Life One Breath at a Time
To date, along with the books, Wellativity™ also offers Daily Breaths on audio CDs and MP3’s for daily affirmation and support on the go, topic specific booklets and an illustrated comic book series, The Adventures of Dr. Albert I’m Fine and His Theory of Wellativity.
It’s Scott’s passion, at this juncture, to reach children and parents with his messages of health and the importance of breathing conditioning, through an animated edutainment cartoon series featuring all of the ‘I’m fine” characters. Scott Morofsky’s journey continues. So Breathe it!
